We Need Volunteers!
Members of The Royal Canadian Legion are making a difference in their communities. Every year, Legionnaires spend millions of volunteer hours supporting homeless Veterans, volunteering with the Poppy Campaign to raise money for Veterans and their families in need, honoring the Fallen and teaching youth about the importance of Remembrance, ensuring ill and injured Veterans get the care and benefits they deserve, and so much more. Legion members are our boots-on-the-ground and the backbone of the organization – They are the reason we are able to support those who served and help our communities.

Everything the Legion does to help Canada’s serving and retired Veterans and their families is inherently reliant on the strength of our membership and the work of our member volunteers. For our members, the reward from helping Veterans and supporting our communities is priceless. In 2018, visit your local branch and volunteer with the Legion!
These are only some of the ways our members have been making a difference:
Legion members in Branches across British Columbia were instrumental in developing and supporting Cockrell House, helping more than 60 homeless Veterans find a place to call home since 2009.
Mount Hamilton, Ontario Legion members raised more than $55,000 this year through their annual Poppy Campaign, providing support and financial assistance to Veterans and their families in need within the community.
Members of the Red Deer, Alberta Legion, along with 14 other Legion Branches across Canada hosted the cross-country Invictus Games National Flag Tour in their communities, raising awareness for Canada’s ill and injured Veterans and supporting the athletes. The Invictus Games Toronto 2017 saw more than 550 athletes compete in 12 different adaptive sports on their road to recovery.
Each year, Newfoundland and Labrador Legion members take 16 youth and 4 Veterans on a trip of a lifetime to learn about the First World War, visit the Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial in France, honor the Fallen and learn about the Royal Newfoundland Regiment.
Members of the Jasper, Alberta Legion Branch developed a program called Veteran Adventures, aimed at giving Veterans and their families across Canada access to equipment such as tents, canoes, and kayaks to make it easier for them to explore Jasper National Park and the great outdoors.
Windsor, Ontario Legion members honored Cpl. Andrew Grenon, a local Veteran killed in Afghanistan, as part of a new memorial honoring the fallen from the Afghanistan War. It was a touching moment as members, along with Grenon’s mother, unveiled the plaque with the names and faces of all the soldiers who died during the conflict, with Grenon featured in the center.
